PFOA - Perfluorooctanoic Acid - Concerns Regarding Exposure and PFOA Products Such As Teflon:

Companies that use PFOA have committed to providing the EPA and the scientific community with additional data that should help develop a greater understanding of PFOA exposure and sources. The 3M company has indicated that it will not resume the manufacturing of Perfluorooctanoic Acid, and further will continue to monitor its workers and local groundwater, surface water and environmental media.

The members of the Fluoropolymer

Manufacturing Group have committed to reduce emmisions and study to determine if their products may be a source of PFOA. They will also pledge to follow principles of product stewardship in their efforts to support toxicological research, control occupational exposures in their own facilities, monitor employee health, assist customers in protecting their employees and meet the general commitment to reduce their emmissions into the environment.

Further, the members of the Telomer Research Program have committed to evaluating telomer products sold through-out the United States to determine whether they contribute to environment or human exposure to PFOA.
